Tuk Tuk Cha

Well hi, yes this is the continuation from the previous post about our dinner!! We went to check out the recently opened Tuk Tuk Cha at Hillion. Ki had wanted to try out their thick toasts actually but since we had like so much ice-cream before dinner already..... maybe next time HAHAH

The entrance

The restaurant itself wasn't very big actually but it somehow wasn't very crowded so it was still ok.

Ki and Soph ordered from the Value Meal, sharing a plate of Phad Thai and a Regular cup of Cold Lemongrass I think. Vish also ordered the same dish as them but with a Regular cup of Cold Green Milk Tea instead.

Tried abit of Vish's Phad Thai and it was ... meh. I've definitely tasted nicer ones at cheaper price too. It just tastes like normal stir-fried noodles lol Definitely not worth it imo 😟

Joey also ordered from the Value Meal, a plate of Tom Yum Fried Rice with a Regular cup of Cold Thai Milk Coffee.

Apparently she said it was pretty spicy :oo

I wasn't feeling very hungry after all the ice-cream so I ordered 2 bowls of Mini Tom Yum Noodles (each bowl at $1.90) as well as a Regular cup of Iced Thai Milk Tea ($3).

The tomyum broth is actually quite legit eh!! like the level of sourness and spiciness is quite good!! Might be too spicy for some though AHAHH The serving is like 2 mouthfuls of noodles but woah their noodles quite nice leh, it's smooth and soft, but not too soft!! But it kinda clumps together at first though so you'll need to unclump it yourself hahah. Each bowl has fish meat, 1 prawn, 1/4 of a mushroom and a piece of lemongrass AHAAHA I think given its price, it's quite worth it!! Pretty satisfied with my choice of food πŸ‘…πŸ‘…

Oh, you can choose the sugar level for their beverages too!! (didn't manage to take a shot of the sugar levels though sorry!!) I'm guessing 5%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% (??) Mine was at 5% in which I realised the staff keyed in 0%. So well I guess 5% is as good as don't add any sugar/ sweetener la hor HAHAAHH The milk tea itself ain't too bad!! But I think I'll order at like 25% sugar or something HHAHAH

Might be back (??) to try maybe their toasts or something (but wah their toasts are at $11....) but their Tom Yum is definitely worth the trip there!!

Udders

Hello~ Here's another post for yall!! πŸ˜€

Apparently Esso is having some joint promotion thingy going on with some F&B outlets like Udders, The Soup Spoon and Pastamania in which one could collect Esso vouchers to redeem certain food items from those mentioned above.

2 vouchers = 1 Classic Scoop of Udders ice-cream (+$0.90 for Premium, +$2.40 for Connoisseur)
4 vouchers = 1 Classic Soup from Soup Spoon
6 vouchers = 1 Classic Pasta from Pastamania

Yup, and since Ki had some vouchers, we decided to head to Udders at Beauty World for an ice-cream date πŸ‘…

The shop has a very interesting concept, take a look:

There are many of those red boxes with breakable glass and funny captions, encasing different items HAHAH I love their main door sia, like it's as if someone really tried to break the glass damn cool!!!

Even their toilet sign is hilarious hahah:

The owners must have a really good sense of humor heheh πŸ˜‚

Anywaysss, main point is the ice-cream HAHAH, here's the menu:

If you find eating ice-cream by itself boring, you could order it along with Waffles/ Monster Cone/ Cigar Cone!! Their cones are no joke HAHAHH sorry forgot to take a photo of that!!

Besides the kids-friendly flavours, they serve "adult" flavours too! By that I mean flavours incorporating alochol!! But they're mostly under the Premium flavours!

In total, we ordered 6 scoops:

The pic screwed up sobs, this is the best I could save it 😭
The first row flavours are Classic, second row are Premium (alcoholic) and the second pic is Connoisseur (also alcoholic).

FROM THE CLASSIC:
Sexy Me is a pun on the word sesame HAHAHHA and omg there is a really strong black sesame flavour!!! It's damn good and shiok la!!! Unless you're not fond of black sesame then... this flavour ain't for you babe!

Snickers Mars Honeycomb Vanilla (oh my tian...name damn long) was a real disappointment I tell you. 😑 It was really just Vanilla ice-cream with those candies tossed in. I was hoping the flavours of the candies to be infused into the vanilla ice-cream actually but it's not so... mehh

Earl Grey had a very strong....earl grey tea flavour HAHAHH to the point that it's slightly overwhelming, like perfume πŸ˜… The smell went up to my nose when I took a small scoop HAHHA

FROM THE PREMIUM:
Orange Chocolate Bitter was a crowd-pleaser!! I'm guessing that they used dark chocolate to provide that bitterness! It helped to mask some of the orange flavour to prevent it being overwhelming and to counter the richness of the chocolate! Even Ki who dislikes orange chocolates loved this! HUE

Cereal Killer gave me an impression of cheesecake! The crushed cereals tasted like those crushed Graham Crackers base in cheesecake which gave a good contrast to the creaminess of the ice-cream I guess! It was slightly too sweet for me though HAAHH

FROM THE CONNOISSEUR:
Tira-miss-u was quite yummy actually!! It has the highest alcohol content among the alcoholic flavours and the alcohol is really quite evident!! Like I could taste the burning sensation after the ice-cream melted on my tongue. It has a relatively strong coffee taste as well!!

RANKING:
{zhen ♋; ki ♌; soph ♍}

  1. Orange Choc Bitter ♋, Cereal Killer ♌♍
  2. Sexy Me ♋, Orange Choc Bitter  ♌♍
  3. Tira-miss-u ♋, Sexy Me ♌, Snickers Mars Honeycomb Vanilla ♍
  4. Earl Grey ♋, Tira-miss-u ♌♍
  5. Cereal Killer ♋, Earl Grey ♌♍
  6. Snickers Mar Honeycomb Vanilla ♋♌, Sexy Me ♍
Regardless of its flavour, I think that Udders ice-cream are of relatively good quality like, it's smooth and milky yumz. Don't fight me saying there's no bad ice-cream kay 'cause I've tasted bad ones before sobs hahah.

There are still quite a few flavours to be tried so this definitely won't be the last time I'll be there, especially to pair it with their waffles πŸ‘…πŸ‘… Although most of the other flavours are pretty normal, I'd wanna go back to try their other alcoholic series heheh (ps did I mention that I got kinda groggy by night time, possibly from the alcohol HAHAHAH I've a very bad alcohol tolerance πŸ˜…)

Oh, they do sell other stuff apart from ice-cream, like other pastry items and even fries!

We went Hillion afterwards to meet our other friends for dinner! And that shall be for another post!

Grain Traders

Hi, I'm back after a long hiatus (again) HAHAHH So here's another check off my bucket when I visited Grain Traders at Telok Ayer for lunch with Alyssa, a close work buddy!! πŸ’“

Let's start off with some shots of the place itself!

Quite love the vibe that it gives off, pretty rustic, country-side and down-to-earth, like the ingredients that they serve. They specialise in providing wholesome and nutritious bowls sold at $16 nett. Definitely on the pricey side but the quality of their food are worth it!

They also sell pastries and coffee at the other half of the cafe as seen from pic 4 and 5!

{WARNING: they tend to be very crowded during lunch hours since this branch reside in a CBD area. If there are no seats available inside and you're rushing for time BUT diedie also must eat, you can choose to stand outside the shop at the high tables as well as seen in pic 3}

pic taken from Grain Traders ' official site
You have the choice to Build-Your-own Bowl catered to your preferences or choose from one of their Signature Bowls! I love to be given the freedom to customise my meal as I find it really fun and exciting HAHAH (can anyone relate? hehe)

As you reach the front of the queue, you'll be able to see their array of food at their window displays! nomnomnomπŸ‘…

1. BASE

For the rice-lovers: Japanese rice/ Brown rice
For those looking for rice-substitutes: Bulgur Wheat/ Quinoa/ Soba Noodles
For those dieting/ step-healthy (aka me lol):  Super Greens ie spinach leaves I think

{TIP; try not to order the Super Greens if you are looking for a filling lunch kay!}

2. PROTEIN

For the fishy-lovers: Sous-vide and Chargrilled Salmon/ Seared Marinated Tuna
For the mammal-lovers: Grilled Striploin Steak/ Slow Roasted Pork/ Roasted Chicken
For the vegetarians: Lentils Patty

3. HOT VEG COLD VEG

By now, I'm very lazy to type out everything which can obviously be found from the pic of the menu above so yep HAHAAHAH

{TIP: Wild Mushrooms are recommended to be quite awesome}

4. TOPPINGS
Forgot to take a photo of this section :/

5. SAUCES

Look at dem big bowls of colourful concoctions~

6. PAYMENT
Yup self-explanatory.

OKAY, let's reveal our bowls! πŸ‘…

Mine
Super Greens, Seared Marinated Tuna, Roasted Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato, Grilled Beets and Carrots, Crudites and Coleslaw with Kaffir Lime Vinaigrette, Beetroot Feta Yoghurt

OMG I just realised I messed up LOL the beets and carrots are a hot veg o_o when I'm supposed to choose another cold veg LOL ohwell shitz

{PS in case you're wondering, mine's in a take-out box as there was apparently a shortage of bowls by the time it reached me so yup}

LOVES: the squash and sweet potatoes are creamy and slightly sweet; the tuna is cooked on the outer layer and the interior is of sashimi texture which is damn shiok?????? ; the pink sauce is really interesting for its bright pink colour and salty taste (from the feta I believe)

SO-SO: the coleslaw and the spinach are pretty damn dry; the beets and carrots didn't leave much of an impression

Regretted my base choice as I was still left kinda hungry meep😧

Alyssa's
Brown Rice, Lentils Patty, Roasted Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato, Crudites and Coleslaw with Kaffir Lime Vinaigrette, Bean Sprout Salad, Miso Caramel

Definitely gonna go back again in the not-so-near future (wallet crying in agreement) to try out other combinations! Will post again if I do so stay tuned! πŸ€—

Here's to more healthy food adventures with you!! πŸ’“πŸ‘
