Candour Coffee/ Boru Boru + Nana Ice-cream

Hihi, I'm back (again) HAHAH back to #foodventures posts! So, I visited Candour Coffee yesterday night (why is it not yesternight hmm anyways) with Alyssa and Mellie to try out the food from Boru Boru, which is a pop-up store within the cafe! Boru Boru is is situated in US which specialises in like sushi bowls (ie chirashi dons) and only has 1 outlet in SG (I think) which is the one we visited yesterday! Saw TheSmartLocal's EatBook article on it plus Alyssa suggested it so yeappp!!

Alyssa and I reached the place quite early like 630pm so we like look through the menu and took some pictues outside ('cos me la for blog la AHAHA) and went in to chope a table first. Okay show yall the exterior and interior look first.

The place is only a few mins walk away from Bugis Junction thus relatively accessible I guess in terms of location. It's a relatively small cafe with not much seating indoors although there are like 2 tables outside I think. Relatively good ambiance with the dim lighting, making it a good place to just chill after work with friends. Don't remember hearing any music in the cafe and relatively quiet apart from the occasional clanking of cutlery, low chatter and waft of food smell. Was looking around the cafe while waiting for Mellie to reach and realise that there aren't much choices in terms of dessert sitting in glass box, although I was pretty curious about the Matcha Cheesecake. ($7.90 per slice though.../stabs heart/)

Menu

Oh there's also a set meal thingy which I didn't photograph!! To your bowl:

+$3 for black coffee/ cold brewed tea
+$4 for hot matcha latte/ chocolate
+$6.50 for something that I couldn't see soz hahah πŸ˜…

the cafe's menu
The original menu of the cafe itself didn't really interest us as we were really just there for the Japanese bowls heheh. Oh ya while waiting for Mellie to arrive, I was just looking around and I kept making eye contact with the boss and it was sooooo awkz 'cos we sat there for so long without ordering and whenever I make eye contact, I feel like he thinks we wanna order LOL

Mellie arrived around 730pm and yay can order ler!!

Iced Jasmine and Iced Sencha

Mellie's Shiro Maguro Boru with Onsen Egg
Alyssa's Boru Chirashi
My 48° Salmon with Triple Egg (Mentaiko)
Shiro Maguro Boru with Onsen Egg is a bowl of sushi rice topped with white tuna, onsen egg, flying fish roe, corn, edamame and cherry tomatoes. πŸ’Έ $14.90

Boru Chirashi is a bowl of sushi rice blanketed by various seafood such as diced tuna, salmon, octopus, shrimp and salmon roe, garnished with shredded seaweed, sesame seeds, green onions and wasabi. πŸ’Έ $13.90

48° Salmon with Triple Egg (Mentaiko) is a bowl with onsen egg, flying fish roe, edamame, corn, cherry tomatoes and a chunk of salmon with a layer of torched mentaiko over a bed of sushi rice. You have the option of choosing mentaiko or caviar. πŸ’Έ $16.90
(ps the triple egg = onsen + fish roe + mentaiko/caviar !! damn smart sia they)

(I am only able to describe mine kay)

I live for egg porn to put things up front. Omg when I broke the yolk, mixing it into the rice and having a scoop of that with some edamame, corn and roe /dead/ very shiok omg. The salmon itself was tender and juicy πŸ‘…πŸ‘… The mentaiko however wasn't as satisfying. I had better mentaiko at Umi Sushi LOL but still shiok nonetheless when mixed with the rice as the mayo gave it creaminess. yummzzzz πŸ’“πŸ’“πŸ’“

Oh ya, their bowls are all disposable plastic bowls although their utensils are just the normal plastic ones la. And their prices are all at nett!! Damn shiok!

Alyssa and I ordered the Jasmine Tea while Mellie got the Sencha (Japanese green tea). Once again, I'm disappointed by cafe drinks lmao. It's not that it's bad la but just like... the taste not strong lor, like diluted tea :c

But omg huge thanks to Mellie for the treat!!!! πŸ’•πŸ’•

Food: ⚓⚓⚓⚓
Ambiance: ⚓⚓⚓⚓

Would totally go back again if I ever crave for sushi bowls I guess since it's really affordable!! And also to try out their coffee, like I mean the cafe should be specialising in coffee since its name has coffee (?)

After dinner we just stay in the cafe and chatted until 10pm (their closing time). sozz πŸ™ŠπŸ™Š It was such a good night though!! Laughed so much I can't hahhahha and the housemate stories goshh hahaha

Thanks to them both again so much for being sooooo sweet to wanna celebrate my birthday (although almost a week early) πŸ’•πŸ’• much appreciates hehe

We parted afterwards but Alyssa and I went to Bugis Junction's Mac to have some dessert and chatted somemore. Finally tried the new Banana Cone although my cone ain't blue :(( #xiaosad #butitzk
πŸ’Έ $1
It's really quite nice though!! Like the nana taste don't taste that artificial and supposedly tasted like the korean nana milk according to my friends and of good creaminess texture. Nomz.

Finally left for home at like 11pm hahah

Food was good but company was great huee πŸ’– okie till next time (soon) BYE
